Wind Form Visualizer

Wind often appears as a simple force but it contains contradiction. This sculpture renders visible the subtle chaos in a gust of wind, always moving both with and against itself. The pattern is designed to embody one movement in the body of the sail while allowing linear movement along the spring lines to the circular sensors. 

This project could be extended through exploration of other dynamic 2D shapes. The sensors could be wired and their displacement lit by led. The displacement could be read by sensors which read displacement on the sculpture and map it to sound or a projected image. Force on the sculpture could be detected through stretch sensors and adjust a secondary mechanical structure which modulates airflow.
